Tour Overview

This is a 6-day camping safari, where you’ll travel in a custom safari jeep with a pop-up roof, accompanied by a guide/driver and a chef. Our adventure will take us through the famous north circuit parks of Tanzania.

We’ll start with three days in Serengeti, the largest and most renowned park, where we’ll witness the incredible migration of over a million wildebeest alongside 250,000 zebras. Next, we’ll explore the stunning landscapes of Ngorongoro Crater, known for its surreal views and abundant wildlife, easily spotted due to its crater floor.

Our journey will then take us to Tarangire, a smaller version of Serengeti but famous for its large population of elephants. Finally, we’ll visit Lake Manyara, famous for its colorful flamingoes and the rare sight of tree-climbing lions, although they’re rarely seen.

Throughout the tour, you’ll have plenty of time to view wild animals and relax in the parks. It’s the perfect tour for those passionate about exploring wildlife.

Please note that accommodation during the safari will be camping, but you have the option to upgrade to lodge accommodation for an additional cost.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

We’ll start your adventure by picking you up from your hotel. Once you’ve met our guide and chef, we’ll head off to Tarangire National Park, which is about a 2-hour drive away. This park is famous for its diverse landscape, including the iconic Ancient Baobab trees, and it’s known for having the largest concentration of elephants in the whole country. You’ll have the chance to observe these magnificent animals and witness the interaction between elephant families.

During our game drive through the park, we’ll keep an eye out for various animals, especially predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards, although they can be tricky to spot. We’ll also see plenty of herbivores like giraffes, wildebeest, and zebras.

After our exploration, we’ll head to the Tarangire River picnic site for lunch, where we can enjoy a scenic view of the river and the animals. Don’t be surprised if small monkeys and baboons try to join us – they’re just curious!

Once we’ve had our fill, we’ll continue our game drive until around 4:30 pm, when we’ll exit the park. After the tour, we’ll head to our accommodation in Mto Wa Mbu, where we’ll set up camp for the night.

Meals included: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Mto wa mbu to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, we’ll embark on a journey from Mto Wa Mbu to Serengeti, which will take approximately 6 hours with all our stops. Along the way, we’ll pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

During our journey, we’ll make a brief stop at the gate and viewpoint of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to take in the breathtaking view of the crater, a truly awe-inspiring sight.

Additionally, we have the option to visit a Maasai village during our stop. This visit is entirely optional but provides a unique opportunity to explore the culture of the Maasai tribe. You’ll learn about their traditional practices, such as lion hunting, which was once considered a rite of passage for warriors. While some of these customs, like drinking raw animal blood, are no longer practiced, you’ll still gain valuable insights into their way of life.

After our stop, we’ll continue our journey towards Serengeti, ready for the adventures that await us in this iconic national park.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park full day

On this day, we’ll explore different parts of the Serengeti, depending on the movements of the wildlife. After an early breakfast, we’ll set out on an early game drive to maximize our chances of spotting animals.

We’ll continue our exploration throughout the day, pausing for lunch amidst the stunning landscapes of the Serengeti. Our game drive will extend into the evening, allowing us to witness the beauty of the savannah as the sun begins to set.

As we return to the campsite, keep your eyes peeled – animals may still be spotted in the vicinity. We’ll enjoy dinner under the stars before settling in for the night at our campsite.

Meals included:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner
Day 4: Serengeti to Ngorongoro

In Seronera, Serengeti National Park, we’ll start our day bright and early at 6:00 am with a steaming cup of coffee to wake us up. After getting fueled up, we’ll set off from the campsite for a morning game viewing adventure in the heart of Serengeti.

As we explore, we’ll be treated to the breathtaking sight of the morning sun rising over the Serengeti plains. While the mornings can be a bit chilly, especially in the open safari vehicle, don’t worry – just remember to bundle up in warm clothes.

We’ll continue our game drive until mid-day, soaking in the sights and sounds of the Serengeti wilderness. Then, it’s back to camp for a hearty breakfast and lunch to refuel for the rest of the day’s adventures.

After lunch, we’ll hit the road again, this time making our way towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, we’ll enjoy a game drive, keeping our eyes peeled for any wildlife sightings.

Our journey will take us to Ngorongoro Simba Campsite, where we’ll settle in for the evening. Dinner will be served, and we’ll spend the night surrounded by the natural beauty of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, ready to continue our safari adventure the next day.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

On your final day of the Tanzania Safari, after enjoying breakfast and a picnic lunch, we’ll take a short drive to the descending gate of the Ngorongoro Crater. From there, we’ll drive down to the crater floor, which is 650 meters deep, for a half-day crater tour.

During our tour, we’ll have the chance to spot a variety of wildlife, including the elusive rhinoceros if we’re lucky. The crater is home to many permanent resident animals, as it boasts a consistent water source throughout the year. This makes it an ideal habitat, and many animals prefer to stay within the crater.

After our tour, we’ll ascend back up to the crater rim for lunch, enjoying the incredible views once more. Then, we’ll head back to camp, where we’ll pack up our belongings.

Finally, we’ll drive to Mto Wa Mbu for dinner and an overnight stay, concluding our unforgettable Tanzania Safari adventure.

Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha

After breakfast, we’ll head to Lake Manyara National Park, renowned for its abundance of flamingoes in the lake and its elusive tree-climbing lions, although sightings of the latter are rare.

During our game drive in the park, we’ll have the opportunity to spot a variety of bird species, including the iconic flamingoes. If we’re lucky, we might even catch a glimpse of the famous tree-climbing lions. We’ll also visit the hippo pool to observe these magnificent creatures up close, and we’ll have the chance to explore the hot spring.

Throughout our game drive, we’ll encounter a diverse array of animals, including buffaloes, wildebeest, warthogs, vultures, eagles, and monkeys.
