Detailed Itinerary
Day 1:Zanzibar to Kogatande Airstrip
Accommodations: Ang’ata Migration – Bologonja Camp
Day 2:Northern Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, we embark on a game drive in the Northern Serengeti. This region offers a chance to escape the crowds, nestled between the Central Serengeti and Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve to the north. Remote and relatively inaccessible, it sees fewer visitors but rewards those who venture here with stunning landscapes. The 800-kilometer trek of the immense wildebeest herd marks the largest mammal migration on earth. This migration coincides with the greening of nutritious grasses on the short-grass plains during the wet season, making these areas safer for calving as predators can be easily spotted. However, as the plains dry up, the wildebeest are forced to move in search of greener pastures in the western corridor. While the northern extension of the ecosystem receives the highest rainfall, the grasses are the least nutritious.

Day 3:Nothern Serengeti national Park
After breakfast, we’ll embark on a full-day game drive, focusing on finding the migration crossing the Mara River in the Northern Serengeti National Park. This area offers a remarkable safari experience, as the Serengeti is home to a diverse array of wildlife species, including the Big Five: elephants, lions, rhinos, buffalos, and leopards. Spotting these elusive creatures in their natural habitat is a thrilling experience. Additionally, you may encounter wildebeests, zebras, cheetahs, hippos, antelopes, impalas, and waterbuck, among other species.
The annual migration of two million ungulates, primarily wildebeests, through the Serengeti National Park is one of the most incredible wildlife spectacles in Africa, and indeed the world. This migration follows a reasonably predictable annual cycle, dictated by local rainfall patterns. The Great Migration cycle can be divided into different periods, each offering unique opportunities to witness this natural phenomenon.
Tonight, we’ll stay at Matawi Serengeti Camp, where you can relax and reflect on the day’s exciting wildlife encounters.
Day 4:Central Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro
Early in the morning, we’ll embark on a game drive toward the Central Serengeti, known for its stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife. During this time of year, from late July to mid-October, the great migration is expected to be in this area, particularly crossing the famous Mara River on their journey to and from the Maasai Mara Reserve in Kenya. This presents an excellent opportunity to witness this remarkable natural phenomenon, with the possibility of seeing the herds crossing the river and encountering predators such as lions waiting to prey on them.
Our experienced guides will choose the best spotting locations to observe a large pride of lions, and you may find yourself amidst the migration, surrounded by wildebeests and zebras. Along the way, we’ll visit hippo pools and volcanic rocky outcrops known as kopjes, which provide shelter for a variety of animals and offer panoramic views of the grasslands below.
After the game drive, we’ll transfer to Farm of Dreams Lodge in Karatu, where you can unwind and relax after an exciting day of wildlife viewing.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha Aiport
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, your driver guide will be waiting to pick you up and commence your safari adventure. Our first destination is the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, renowned for its incredible biodiversity and abundant wildlife. As we descend into the crater, be prepared to encounter the iconic Big Five – lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo – along with a plethora of other fascinating creatures.
The crater is teeming with life, including wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, hyenas, jackals, hippos, and various antelope species. Notably, it boasts the world’s densest lion population, offering excellent opportunities for spotting these majestic predators in their natural habitat. Furthermore, the crater is home to the rare black rhinoceros, adding to its allure as a prime safari destination.
While giraffes are not found inside the crater due to its steep walls acting as a natural barrier, the diversity of wildlife within the crater is truly impressive.
After an exhilarating game drive, we’ll transfer you to Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar, where you can continue your adventures or relax on the idyllic beaches of this tropical paradise.
Enjoy the remainder of your journey, filled with unforgettable wildlife encounters and the natural wonders of Tanzania.
